ManLao River PlantationThe ManLao River plantation was formed in the SiMao region approximately
10 years ago by the collective farming community to ensure a homogenous
product with premium quality. The particular strain of caffea arabica
cultivated is pest-resistant and characterized by small pellet-size
and intense aromatic flavor.
Located in Southern China within the same equatorial band as Hawaii and Jamaica, the SiMao region is one of the most ideal coffee-farming regions of Yunnan province. SiMao was recently renamed from the city of Pu'Er, the origin place of the famous Yunnan Pu'Er tea, and designates the area occupied by the ManLao River plantation. There are over 3000 acres of coffee land, wholly operated by the ManLao River plantation. Processing uses only 100% natural mountain spring water from tributaries of the ManLao River. The famously homogenous product is distinguished by its purity and untainted flavor. |

The PlantationThe ManLao River plantation is the largest plantation in the city of Pu'Er, and the only plantation in the SiMao district. Coffee produced here has the greatest geographical advantages of climate and elevation. In addition, ManLao River plantation is distinguished by its large-scale facilities and modern agricultural techniques. The homogenous process supports a large production of the same high-quality beans. More than 40 mi from the nearest town, and more than 200 mi from any industry, the coffee lands are well-secluded from pollution. The plantation derives its 100% natural water source from the ManLao River. The plantation use only natural fertilizers and no pesticides. In addition to the two large-scale washing facilities, ManLao River plantation also possesses the largest natural drying ground in the region and around the world. This enables the coffee to be completely sun-dried, without possibility of pollution from fuel-powered drying machines.
Farming LifeFarmers in the ManLao River plantation live on an innovative farming collective. The plantation provides the community with social infrastructure such as churches, schools, and agricultural training centers for up-to-date agricultural practices. The plantation also supplies the all-natural fertilizers to all farmers, as well as imported equipment. The crop is harvested to a strict quality standard, and processing occurs in one of the two specified processing grounds. The farmers are responsible for maintaining the plantations to their allotted fields. Each community is allotted and cares for its portion of coffee land. Farmers are mostly self-sufficient, and enjoy home-grown crops and maintaining small herds. Farming life here is relaxed and without pressures. Farmers are able to focus on improving the quality of the crop while enjoying the same good quality of life.
